Our Story
Started with a single, difficult conversation
Anjung Melur opened in Kuantan because the founding practitioner noticed something in the families she worked alongside: people often arrived at a solicitor's office already exhausted. They had spent weeks worrying, unsure whether their concerns were serious enough to bother a lawyer about, unsure what things would cost, and unsure whether proceeding would make things worse or better.
That worry is the thing the office was designed to reduce. The services here — particularly the Quiet Consultation — exist so that someone can have a private, unhurried conversation about their family situation without committing to anything. If they decide to proceed, the office works with them carefully. If they decide not to, no follow-up is made.
The name Anjung Melur refers to a veranda where jasmine grows — a place to pause, to think, and to have a conversation in private. That is the quality the office tries to bring to every matter.
The values that guide this work
Unhurried pace
Clients are not moved through a process at the office's convenience. Matters proceed when the client is ready.
Strict confidentiality
What is shared in this office stays in this office. Confidentiality is a professional obligation, not a preference.
Clear language
Legal terms are explained in ordinary Malaysian English. Clients leave with a written note of what was discussed.
Measured correspondence
Letters written today are read again years later. The office keeps its tone civil, because that matters long after a matter closes.

Standards & Practice
How we approach the work
Every matter handled by this office follows the same principles — regardless of its size or complexity.
Malaysian Bar Compliance
All legal work is conducted in accordance with the Legal Profession Act 1976 and the rules of the Malaysian Bar. Professional indemnity insurance is maintained at the required level.
Client Confidentiality
Solicitor–client privilege applies to all communications. Client files are stored securely and are accessible only to authorised members of the office.
Written Cost Estimates
Before any substantive work begins, clients receive a clear written estimate of costs. No additional amounts are incurred without prior discussion and agreement.
Timely Communication
All enquiries receive a response within one working day. Clients are kept informed of developments in their matter as they occur, not after the fact.
Data Protection
Personal data is handled in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia). No data is shared with third parties without the client's knowledge and consent.
Client-Led Pace
A matter progresses when the client is ready. There is no pressure to move faster than the situation or the client's state of mind permits. Pausing is always an option.
Family law in Pahang, handled with care
Family legal matters in Malaysia are governed by civil law for non-Muslim Malaysians and by Syariah law for Muslim Malaysians, depending on the nature of the matter and the personal law applicable to the parties. Anjung Melur advises on civil family matters and works closely with Syariah practitioners where a matter has elements that fall under Islamic family law jurisdiction in Pahang.
Separation arrangements can involve questions about the matrimonial home, financial maintenance, child custody and access, school fees, vehicle ownership, and the division of assets accumulated during the marriage. Each of these areas has its own legal framework in Malaysia, and the practical arrangements that work for one family will differ from those that work for another.
The office is located at Jalan Pahlawan in Kuantan and serves clients from across Pahang, including those in Temerloh, Maran, Bentong, Raub, and surrounding areas. Appointments are by arrangement and can be held in person or by video call for clients who are not able to travel easily.
