Fees and payment
All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). A written cost estimate is provided before any billable work begins. The following starting fees apply:
- Quiet Consultation: RM 145 (fixed, payable at or before the appointment)
- Mediation Support and Agreement Drafting: from RM 320
- Separation Arrangements and Ongoing Representation: from RM 635
For ongoing matters, fees are invoiced at agreed intervals and are payable within 14 days of the invoice date. Any variation to the agreed fee is discussed and confirmed in writing before additional work is undertaken.
Refunds: The Quiet Consultation fee is non-refundable once the appointment has taken place. For ongoing matters, fees for work already completed are not refundable. If a matter is discontinued before completion, you are responsible for fees up to the point of discontinuation.
Service-specific terms
Quiet Consultation: A single appointment covering the client's legal situation and options. No files are opened, no documents filed, and no follow-up contact is made unless requested. A short written note is provided to the client.
Mediation Support: Preparation for and attendance at mediation sessions, and drafting of the resulting agreement. Scope is confirmed in writing. Attendance at sessions is subject to the rules of the relevant mediation body.
Separation Arrangements: Full representation from initial discussions through to final orders or agreements. The client may pause the matter at any point. The scope and estimated timeline are set out in an engagement letter. The client is kept informed of all developments and no correspondence is sent without their knowledge.
Disclaimers
The information on this website is provided for general purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such. Every legal situation is different, and the content of this website may not apply to your specific circumstances.
We do not make any representations about the outcome of any matter we handle. Legal proceedings and negotiations involve factors outside our control, including the decisions of courts, mediators, and other parties. Engaging our Services does not guarantee any particular result.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, our liability to you in connection with our Services is limited to the fees paid for the specific service in question. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss arising from your use of this website or our Services.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, professional negligence, or any other matter that cannot be excluded by law. Our professional indemnity insurance is maintained in accordance with Malaysian Bar requirements.
Termination of engagement
Either party may terminate an ongoing engagement by written notice. You may terminate at any time. We may terminate if fees remain unpaid after reasonable notice, if you provide false information, or if continuing the engagement would put us in conflict with our professional obligations.
Upon termination, you are responsible for fees for work completed to that point. We will provide you with copies of relevant documents upon receipt of outstanding fees.
Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these Terms or from our Services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, with Pahang as the preferred venue.
We encourage informal resolution of any concerns in the first instance. Please write to [email protected] and we will endeavour to address the matter within 14 days. If informal resolution is not possible, either party may refer the matter to the Malaysian Bar's complaints process or to the courts.
General provisions
Entire agreement: These Terms, together with any engagement letter, constitute the entire agreement between us in respect of the matters they cover.
Severability: If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts continue in full effect.
Waiver: Failure to exercise a right under these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
